a loving mother and transgender daughter with a vision we hope you’ll join us in working toward ... saving lives, keeping families together, and making work, school, and all spaces safe for transgender people through education and advocacy.
Learn MoreWe founded Transgender School to offer courses to educate people about diverse transgender identities and how to be allies and advocates.
When my daughter Jackie came out as transgender at nineteen, I was overcome with shock, anxiety, and confusion. I was not the mother she needed and deserved. After educating myself and finally listening to her, everything changed. Three and a half years later, I’m her biggest fan and we’re closer than ever. We’ve both worked hard to repair the damage I caused by my ignorance.
The transgender person in your life may be your child, parent, friend, partner, coworker, student, or anyone else in your circle. They may or may not have come out yet. Jackie and I want to share our struggles to help you avoid the deep pain we’ve experienced. We’ll be offering online courses, live workshops, articles, social media posts, resources, and more to help you educate yourself about diverse trans experiences and become the best transgender advocate you can possibly be.

Things were very stressful when I stepped into the world as an out, transgender woman for the first time at nineteen. It took a lot to process being constantly misgendered, constantly having to explain that I was transitioning, and constantly having to answer endless questions from my friends and family about being trans.
Talking about my experience still isn’t easy, but the more time I put between those anxiety-ridden early days and my current reality, the easier it gets, and the more I want to share my experience to help others. I hope that through the Transgender School, I can help make the world a safer place for all queer people by educating one ally at a time.

We’ve been on journey for seven years now, ever since Jackie came out and began to transition in 2017, when she was 19 years old. We’ve learned so much and want to share it with you so that you can be an even better ally to transgender people.
We’ll discuss Jackie’s realization that she’s trans, her coming out, the mistakes Bridget made in the beginning, and the things she has realized since that difficult time.
We’ll also talk about about resources available, the wide range of gender identities, and current issues in the transgender community.
You’ll come away with a greater understanding of what being transgender is like and practical tips for communicating with, being inclusive of, and fully supporting all transgender people you may know now and in the future.

The Transgender Inclusion and Advocacy Workshop, put on by Transgender School, was an excellent presentation, or conversation. Special guest, Trans Latinx Activist, Johanna Clearwater, shared her personal story of becoming her authentic self, the determination and courage she lived daily, the challenges she faced with family, school, and aging out of the foster system. The workshop invited participation through a Q&A with the attendees, and offered a great deal of valuable information for educators, counselors, and parents who attended the workshop! Be on the lookout for more opportunities to learn and grow through this great group!

Your workshop gave me the opportunity to learn about the transgender community, in a space that's safe, knowledgeable, and honest. I learned so much at the session, especially etiquette around questions I should not ask. I am grateful to have a place where I can learn what's important for transgender people and their families. Thank you for being so vulnerable and open.

Right now, an important discussion is taking place in our country and around the world about the rights of transgender people and how we can best support those who are transgender. Your workshop has enabled me to enter this discussion with some knowledge and has deepened my understanding and compassion. Thank you!
